What is Shockwave Therapy?
Shockwave Therapy is used in the medical industry to treat injuries and promote the healing of cells, tissues and bones. In the cosmetic industry, Shockwave Therapy is a safe and effective treatment which stimulates lymphatic drainage, encourages the breakdown of fat cells, and induces skin tightening.
This treatment can target areas such as the abdomen, buttocks, legs and arms.
During the procedure, your therapist will move the Shockwave Applicator in the direction of the flow of the lymphatic fluid, encouraging the removal of toxins and promoting general wellbeing.
How does Shockwave Therapy work?
Shockwave Therapy involves powerful, high-energy sound waves. These sound waves disrupt fat cells in the target area and cause them to break down. As a result of this, Shockwave Therapy is a great treatment for targeting stubborn fat. It is also an effective treatment for reducing the appearance of cellulite, which are pockets of fat that are located near the surface of the
skin. By stimulating lymphatic drainage, Shockwave Therapy can help to remove fat cells and other toxins from the body.
The sound waves also increase blood circulation in the target area. This stimulates the growth and strengthening of collagen, which is a protein that helps the skin to retain its elasticity and appear firmer.
Post -treatment care
After Shockwave Therapy, it is normal to notice redness, bruising, tenderness or swelling in the target area. Typically, these side effects will fade within a few days. Please follow these aftercare instructions to help you get the best results from the treatment:
Make sure that you drink around 2 to 3 litres of water each day after the treatment. This helps to stimulate the flow of the lymphatic system. It is advisable to consume half a litre of water directly after the treatment to aid the removal of dead fat cells.
Maintain a healthy lifestyle and partake in regular exercise to encourage long-lasting results.
When will you see results?
It is important to note that results will vary from person to person, and the results that you see will depend on how many sessions you undergo.
You should begin to see gradual results in the weeks following the treatment.
